Rhetoric Construction of Chinese Expository Essays: Implications for EFL Composition Instruction

چکیده

Recent scholarship on Chinese students’ English expository essays tends to blur or mitigate the differences between and writings. This alleged convergence of rhetorical norms gives rise a view that aspects in second language writing instruction research China should be de-emphasized. Drawing data from full-score compositions College Entrance Examination, this study examines how paragraphs are developed. Results show great disparities at paragraph level such as non-English mode, reliance authorities, paragraph, figurative topic sentence. We argue strategies likely transferred if rhetoric is not taught reinforced college.
